I actually like Dynasty Warriors 6 myself, but I'm an oddball. You might want to check it out if after you've played the above and you're curious about the differences between the games. It has some controversial changes to the gameplay, which are very love-it-or-hate-it among the fanbase. Stay away from Dynasty Warriors 6 to start with. For 8 Empires, make sure you get the patches, as the launch game wasn't very good but they added a TON of balance improvements and new features in the patches to fix it up. If you're interested in the Empires games, which are a hybrid of Dynasty Warriors gameplay with turn-based strategy elements, look into Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires and Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is a little bit hard to get into, but is one of the most feature packed games and has a massive amount of stages and characters. Dynasty Warriors 7 is also pretty good in it's own aspects, doing some things better than DW8 and some things worse.Īs far as spinoffs go, Samurai Warriors 4 is fantastic, especially if you're playing with a friend because the game is basically designed around co-op. Of the newer games, Dynasty Warriors 8 with Xtreme Legends is a good starting point.

There are two Xtreme Legends expansion packs for both of those games as well. Of the older games, Dynasty Warriors 3 and Dynasty Warriors 5.
